This tracker works off of Phoebe's AIS system, which stands for 'automatic information system'. All commercial vessels and most pleasure craft are now equipped with AIS. It is used to easily identify other vessels for more streamlined radio contact and can be programmed to alert if you are on a collision course.

Transmitting our data to this site is dependent on making radio contact (passively) with a station that is passing data along to the server, so it won't always be available.

Without committing to any firm timelines or or targeting any particular destinations, with the exception of one very important wedding in October, this is the general route we intend to follow.

After attending a wedding in Maine, we'll turn around and head south for warmer weather. We'll use the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) once we get to Norfolk, Virginia until we've had our fill of the stop-and-go nature of traveling that route. We'll stop for the last time in the US somewhere in South Florida to stock up on necessities and then head to the Bahamas. From there, we'll really start playing it by ear.

We'll try to be in or near Aruba by July to wait out hurricane season, and then we'll have to make the decision of how to get home - to we take a direct route, or do we travel north via Central America. That's too far away to tell, so the route ends in Aruba.
